All is not as it seems

Hello, Friday Fools!

Welcome to Friday Tomfoolery soused with love and a lot of I love you, man's. I appreciate all the kind people who emailed, texted, and shouted out to me on Instagram about the blog, Friday Tomfoolery, and The Reluctant Bandit! Writing can be a lot like teaching or parenting--you put something out there or say something and what you get back is crickets. chirp. chirp. chirp. So when you let me know that you've enjoyed, laughed, or were whatever'd by my writing (where ever you've found it and no matter good or bad) and that you've purchased or are going purchase my novel it warms my heart. Chief isn't going to like this (and don't worry, I asked before sharing)--he joked "once" about my "black heart" --but your communication and connection fills my little black heart. He has a very "Ross" reaction to my razzing him about it, too: I said that once!  Sorry Chief, it's hysterical and that's why I keep saying it. Don't worry, my people--I don't really have a black heart. I jest!

For those of you who are wanting the print copy, it takes about a month. I'll let you know as soon as I have a shipping guesstimate and purchase places. I'm ordering copies to sell from my site. A couple of you have mentioned you wanted them signed! (I'm clapping my hands I'm so geeked out--thank you!) As of last week's newsletter Amazon was the only retailer that had my Ebook available. Since then Kobo and Barnes and Noble have it listed. Again, I marked the sell everywhere button so check your favorite retailers for the Ebook. For the print version I'll have to get back to you on where it's being sold, aside from Amazon me. I have to say, that makes me sound like I'm selling contraband out of my school locker.

As I write this, I'm treating the newsletter as if the emoji issue has been resolved (it hasn't, in case you didn't notice). The newsletter team and my  web instructor are working hard on this. It's been a mystery. Did anyone guess which emojis I used then had to delete in the last newsletter? I used three in the space where I wrote " I'll create a little dance if you tell your friends. I know some of you are--insert your action guess here: I had awesome emojis here, can you guess what they were?--because you know I don't dance when people are watching. "

If someone can guess all 3 emojis before next week's newsletter I think I'll have to come up with a prize. I'll let you know next week if someone actually guesses correctly. I've told Chief what they were, but don't think about pumping him for info. Don't. Do. It. These are harder. If you guess correctly, I'll have to up my emoji game. Think of it like a pop-culture version of a crossword, scramble, word jumble. Maybe. Or maybe it's a how well do I know Ami...emojis, how do I love thee? You get the idea, it's fun with emojis. Any Big Bang Theory fans? Fun with flags? You can work on that while I move on.

Thank you for the purple bandit release party video love. I think that I'm going to co-opt the hashtag #purpleclan. Tag me if you wear purple and #purpleclan. It's a random hashtag that I want to populate. Actually, I thought I was being clever, but others beat me to the punch when I checked it out. However, it's not that popular of a hashtag. I've never done anything like that before, so it's really a social experiment of sorts. Sometimes, social media makes me feel like the awkward aunt hanging out with the teens. Because of that, I've just decided to unleash the kraken of crazy and go for it. Refer to last week's video if you need further proof that I'm flying the freak flag.

Another crazy idea that I love is having you all take selfies with a mask or bandana--a hat if you have one of those--and either send it to me or tag me on Instagram. Let me tell you where I got this genius idea from (I know, sometimes my head swells when I get crafty): it involves a text exchange with my brother (which was hilarious, but you'll have to wait for the full graphic I made--it's not posting. Probably user error. Me.), his 72 year old friend Jimmy, and him reading my book while wearing a Stetson. My excitement rode to the fences with that one. I bet my eyes went anime-wide when I read that part of the text.

Sticking with the "sharing" theme, this week is a dance "share." This couple! Gah! They've made a happy version of the difficult, difficult, lemon difficult dance. A friend posted this on Facebook (how I managed to catch this gem I do not know, I typically don't scroll there)--every time I watch it I smile like crazy and get super joy from it. I've challenged Chief to learn some of the moves with me. I hear you laughing--he can floss...I can floss.  I'll keep you posted. From the bottom of my bright and cheery heart--thank you for being here and for being you. Hope you are well and that you find something funny, curious, and/or thought-provoking to brighten your days.

Take care!

~Ami
