All is not as it seems

Hello, Friday Fools!

Did I actually tell you I was going to be back on track this week? Silly me. I like to keep my promises, but it's hard when you're running on so little sleep and aren't thinking straight. I know all the hard-working medical professionals and other hard workers out there are rolling their eyes at me and I don't blame them. If I could get my act together I might actually be able to relax and get a good night's sleep instead of being on constant alert. πŸ™„ I'm sure I was a warrior or ninja in a former life. 😁 I feel like I sleep with one eye open, sometimes. Not at all restful.

This week I seem to have a lot of "text worthy" things to say, snippets and not full-on stories. I may start a Quora forum for thoughts like that. Let me know if that'd be of any interest. I was lost in thinking about the things that have gone on for me this past week and I they're only funny if you either really know me; know my mom; or have a similar situation. Things might sound bad, otherwise. The Cliff Notes version of that is, I'm the super villain πŸ¦ΈπŸ»β€β™€οΈ and I'm finally fine with it. I snicker every time I write or say "fine." I get called out using it πŸ˜‚

What I do have is another bit of synchronicity. I know you're not really surprised, but try to pretend for me πŸ˜‰.

My mom has cable and we do not. I'm going to interrupt those who might think this is for some "good" reason, such as reducing the amount of TV watched, etc. Nope. Purely an economic reason. And don't go feeling sorry for those boys, they have it good. πŸ’œ The boys became obsessed with Forensic Files, standard murder-sciencey stuff. They were watching marathons of this. Chief and I went out to dinner--alone--while they did this. He orders some sort of meat requiring the knife pictured below. I chuckle to myself, as I'm wont to do, and ask for the knife.

Of course I get a suspicious look (a theme for the week), "What're you going to do with it?"

"I'm going to take a pic and send it to the boys."

"Why?"

"Forensic files."

Sadly, they didn't get it, either. After my explanation I received this response:

"oh haha. how am I supposed to understand that"

Oh, I don't know--I'm sure someone had been stabbed while we were gone.

Okay, whatever. I got a good laugh out of it. THEN, Lynn sends me the second pic, "Attempted Murder"--birds and "western" typography. That's even funnier given the week we had, get it? πŸ˜‚ and then Joyce posts the "murder" horse on her Facebook page. That was on the heels of Lynn's message. Murder, Murder, Murder she wrote. It's kind of Halloweeny, too. Okay, I think it's funny. Feel free to roll your eyes at that, as well. 😁

Another theme for the week--me getting eye rolls (not giving, receiving).

See? I'm entertaining myself with these little threads and holding onto the thread of my sanity (remember, sleep is good for you, bad things happen when you don't sleep). That's my tomfoolery.

For those of you who read last week's Tomfoolery there was the bit about the "plant based" ice cream and suspicious teens. I wanted to make it clear that we weren't making fun of vegetarians--we were eating corned beef just prior to this adventure. It was Chia, after eating about 6 servings of it, who asked with great suspicion if it was "vee-gan." The intonation is important here as well as his love of meat. 😬 He's the one who orders the meaty-meat pizza, with extra meat. Growing boy and all.

Anyhoo--I hope everyone is well and that you find something funny, curious, or thought-provoking to brighten your days.

Take care!

~Ami
